Golfing Hinton and Jasper
When people think of Hinton and Jasper National Park, they may envision skiing down snow-covered trails
, ice skating on mountain lakes, and drinking hot chocolate next to a roaring fire in the ski lodge. However, Hinton and Jasper are both great areas to visit in the summer for the pleasant weather and range of invigorating outdoor sports. The Jasper National Park area is particularly renowned for its stunning golf courses nestled at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.
The Hinton Golf Club
The Hinton Golf Club
has been nicknamed "The Enchanted Forest", as it is nestled in rolling hills at the foot of the Rockies amongst fragrant spruce trees and groves of picturesque birch trees. The course was created in 1962 as a 9-hole course, but was upgraded to an 18-hole course in 1993.
This scenic course can be enjoyed by both beginner and expert golfers. It features 5,047 yards of play for the red and up to 6,729 yards for the blue, and a course par of 74. There are 18 holes set against a backdrop of lush green forest, clear blue skies, and the distant snow-capped peaks of the mountains, as well as a driving range with putting and chipping areas, and brand new tee decks. Guests can improve their game with lessons from the professional CPGA staff, or take in an exciting tournament on the greens.
At the Hinton, guests can rent power carts and pull carts, enjoy the excellent food and drink at the brand new licensed clubhouse, or even take advantage of the on-course beverage service. There is also a fully stocked golf pro shop with golfing equipment and attire and repair and fitting services.
The Hinton Golf Club is also a great spot to book events for its range of attractive services and facilities. The new clubhouse features 12,000 square feet and picturesque panoramic views over the golf course and out to the Rockies. There are full catering and beverage services, as well as friendly and professional service staff on hand to attend to your every need. The clubhouse can accommodate wedding parties, corporate golf tournaments, or special functions and events.
Many people come to Jasper National Park in the summertime simply to enjoy some of the best golf courses that North America has to offer. It is highly recommended that golfers book tee times well in advance, as the course can get booked out in the summer months. The golf season runs from April to October, and both the Jasper Park Lodge Golf Course and the Hinton Golf Club are open from early morning until dusk.
The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge Golf Course
Since it opened in 1925, the Jasper Park Lodge Golf Course
has been one of Canada's premiere golf courses. The course was built by Canada's celebrated golf course architect, Stanley Thompson, who cleared the land for the course in one year with a team of 50 horses and 200 men. Thompson worked with the natural environment to create the 18-hole course, which features breathtaking mountain views from the sweeping fairways.
This world-class golf course offers elevated tee boxes, challenging bunkers, and holes and fairways that are surrounded by lush forests and incredible views of the distant peaks of the Rocky Mountains. The golf course also follows the natural contours of the land, making it a very distinctive golf course. Golfers of all skill levels will find this course fun and challenging, with tees that range from 5,397 yards to 6,663 yards, and a course par of 72.
The Jasper Park Lodge Golf Course also has many top-notch amenities and services for guests. There is an award-winning restaurant with a BBQ and full drink service. Guests can take a break from the game to sit on the spacious patio that overlooks the course. The restaurant is fully licensed, so it is a great place to enjoy a beer in the refreshing mountain air. The 7th Tee Snack Shack is wildly popular for its tasty Jasper hot dogs. Guests can also take advantage of the Golf Shop, the high-quality rental equipment, and the complimentary parking.
